Child Trafficking

Trafficking, according to the United Nations, involves three main elements:

The act – Recruitment, transportation, transfer, harboring, or receipt of persons.

The means – Threat or use of force, coercion, abduction, fraud, deception, abuse of power or vulnerability, or giving payments or benefits to a person in control of the victim.

The purpose – For the purpose of exploitation, which includes exploiting the prostitution of others, sexual exploitation, forced labor, slavery or similar practices and the removal of organs.

  • According to a report by the National Human Rights Commission of India, 40,000 children are abducted each year, leaving 11,000 untraced.
  • There are an estimated 300,000 child beggars in India.
  • Every year, 44,000 children fall into the clutches of gangs.
  • It is estimated that over 2 million women and children are trafficked for sex into the red-light districts in India.
  • According to the CBI (Central Bureau of Investigation) reports, there are an estimated 1.2 million children involved in prostitution in India.

Projectradicans Foundation is determined to bring the curtains down on child trafficking in India by working closely with the students of various educational institutions. We are working relentlessly to educate and empower students to fight against this dreadful crime.
